Heritage assessments and heritage management

Claire has extensive experience in the assessment and management of historic heritage items. During her time as the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (now Roads and Maritime Services) Archaeology and Heritage Specialist, Claire prepared many heritage assessments and statements of heritage impact for RTA-owned heritage items of both local and State heritage significance. Claire also developed the RTA model conservation management plan for heritage bridges, which was the adopted as the template for all heritage bridge CMPs prepared for RTA by external consultants. Claire was invited by the NSW Heritage Office to present on the development and application of the model CMP to a meeting of State government heritage advisors.

Claire is acknowledged by her peers as an expert in the management of heritage infrastructure, in particular for her ability to assist asset managers in retaining items’ heritage significance whilst ensuring ongoing function and safety requirements are met. We specialise in advice on the management of State-significant heritage items listed on the NSW State Heritage Register, including the preparation of Section 60 permits under the NSW Heritage Act 1977.

Heritage advice

Claire has significant experience in the provision of heritage advice regarding the management of items and places of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal heritage. During her time as the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority’s (now Roads and Maritime Services) Archaeology and Heritage Advisor, Claire was responsible for the provision of heritage advice regarding the more than 350 heritage items under the RTA’s control in addition to the heritage impacts of proposed road and bridge construction and maintenance projects. Claire has undertaken the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage training for local government heritage advisors.
